The material on initial mathematics has been developed after nearly 10 years of recording practice and trying out different methods to introduce prenumber skills. THe work started in the 1970s and both IGNOU and mirambika iniitated the project . IGNOU has converted it into a course in primary mathematics, in mirambika we continued to find new materials and incorporated how children think . THis publication is easy to use and has plenty of examples of how the process of inital mathematics can be inculcated . We hope that teachers will find it useful and let us take the experience further by sharing new materials developed in all areas of India.
